The growth of the general planting areas under oilseeds in Ukraine for 2012, caused by extension of sunflower and soy sowings, will reach 7.4 million ha, said Julia Ivanitskaya, oilseed market analyst of APK-Inform Agency.

The expert noted that according to preliminary forecasts of APK-Inform, in 2012 in Ukraine the areas under oilseeds will increase by 4%. In particular, the increase of sowing areas under sunflower will total 8% (to 5.2 million ha), soy - 20% (1.35 million ha).

In 2012 the harvest volumes of oilseeds in Ukraine were forecasted at the level of 13.7 million tonnes (up 5% compared with 2011). In particular, sunflower harvest will total 10 million tonnes, rapeseed - 1.1 million tonnes, soy - 2.57 million tonnes.

As a reminder, APK-Inform Agency together with the Hydrometeorological Center of Ukraine became the organizers of the round table discussion on March 16, 2012, in Dnipropetrovsk (hotel "Reikartz"). The number of participants totalled over 50 delegates.
