US poultry import ban lifted by Indonesia

The agriculture ministry of Indonesia has lifted the ban from United States on imports of poultry and various poultry products.

The government has decided to ban the imports of poultry and other poultry products from several countries including United States, wherever bird flu cases have occurred.

The government has still maintained a ban on imports of the leg quarter till a full evaluation is done and verified that it is halal and whether it can be consumed by Muslims or not, as Muslims has a vast majority in the country's population.

The Poultry Market Information Center said that they are aware of the decision to lift the ban, however they also believe that the last week's decision would not hurt the country's poultry industry.
