Philippines to construct a new plant for meat
A new processing plant and a slaughterhouse would be built by Sunpride Foods Inc. next month. This would be located in the town of Polomolok town in South Cotabato, Philippines.
The company is in the process of preparing for the construction, according to Dominador Camique, project development officer of the Polomolok planning and development office.
Camique stated that the production would be increased for export in the light of the growing demand for canned meat.
The company Mandaue was initially due to begin the project by mid-April.
The main reason for Sunpride's expansion in Polomolok was due to the abundant livestock meat as well as proximity to Makar port area, said South Cotabato board member Clemente Tubo.
Makar port acts as a mail gateway for the domestically produces good for export into countries like Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia as well as other Asean countries.
Makar is also being a point of trans-shipment for BIMP-EAGA products heading for counties like Europe, US and China.
South Cotabatos cattle inventory has over 60,000 livestock as per the agricultural statistics.
The area has approximately 200,000 head of swine and more than 1.2 million head of chicken.
Polomolok is the processing base of pineapple giant Dole Philippines, asparagus exporter Marsman-Drysdale Agri Ventures and seed company Pioneer Hybrid Agricultural Company Inc.
