UK objects to pork export refunds proposal
The UK has objected to Poland's proposals to introduce export refunds to promote overseas EU pork sales during a meeting of EU agriculture ministers.
The British delegation expressed doubts on the efficiency of export refunds and favoured other initiatives instead, according to the meeting's minutes.
That was despite the fact that the proposal was backed by ten member states that include France, Ireland and Austria, and that there was a recent rally in London where about 200 UK pork producers gathered to protest of low prices and financial difficulties of the industry.
