China's breeding pigs from Canada pass quarantine
China's 866 breeding pigs imported by Chongqing Tianson Food Co. Ltd. from Canada have passed the 45-day quarantine period and will enter the breeding stage, the company said.
This is the most recent group of imported breeding pigs shipped to China geared to remedy the pork supply pressure and enrich the pig varieties.
The average price for each pig was around RMB25,000 (US$3,541) per head.
The company also spent approximately RMB60 million (US$8.5 million) in the construction of a pig breeding farm.
