Fonterra to open office in Myanmar

As Fonterra is opening an office in Myanmar later this year, Myanmar President Thein Sein met with the Fonterra Co-operative Group's Chairman John Wilson and CEO Theo Spierings at their headquarters in Auckland.

The meeting is aimed to further strengthen the company's relationship with Myanmar where it has been supplying high quality dairy nutrition for almost 20 years.

Wilson said they were pleased to welcome President Sien to New Zealand and provide him with a deeper understanding of their business, and the New Zealand dairy industry.

"We have a number of strong partnerships in place with Myanmar and we are looking at how we can work together to grow our presence in the country to make high quality dairy more available and accessible to the country's population," he said.

Tomorrow President Sien will get an even closer look at Fonterra's dairying operations when he visits a 500 cow farm in South Auckland.
