Danone recalls dairy products in Romania

French food industry group, Danone, has withdrawn some of its dairy products from sales in Romania after the discovery of a potentially carcinogenic substance in milk from one of its suppliers.
Danone also blocked 75 tonnes of Romania-bound products which may have been in contact with the contaminated milk.
The milk was tainted with aflatoxin, which can be found in milk after cows consume feed contaminated by mould. Aflatoxin can increase cancer risk.
Like much of Europe, Romania has been affected by a food scandal which involved the discovery of horsemeat in assumed beef products.
