Russia reports African swine fever outbreak in Stavropol Area
An outbreak of African swine fever had been reported in Russia's southern Stavropol region, the regional government said Wednesday (March 18).
The outbreak was on the Lenin farm in the village of Kievka in the Apanasenkovsky district of the region, where 26 pigs had died of the disease to date. Altogether there are 190 pigs on the farm, and the authorities have imposed quarantine on the area.
It is the second outbreak of African swine fever since the beginning of this year in the area, which is a major agricultural region in Russia.
