South Korea's corn imports down 45 percent on-year in Jan-Feb
                               


South Korea reduced corn imports by 45 percent in the first two months of 2009 to 903,969 tonnes from a year ago, industry data showed.

 

Corn imports for feed production, which accounted for more than 80 percent of the total, dropped 44 percent to 731,404 tonnes, according to data from the Korea International Trade Association.

 

Imports of food-grade corn also fell 49 percent to 172,565 tonnes.

 

During the period, South Korea imported 436,351 tonnes of feed corn from the US, and 294,953 tonnes from Brazil.
