Ukraine March cattle, pig numbers down; poultry up
The number of cattle in Ukraine on March 1 totalled 5.348 million, a fall of 6.4 percent on the year, the State Statistics Committee reported Wednesday (March 18).
The total cattle number included 2.868 million cows, a fall of 7 percent compared with March 1 2008.
The number of pigs in the country on the date totalled 6.683 million, 10.4 percent fewer than a year earlier.
The number of poultry totalled 165.327 million, 5.4 percent more than on March 1 2008.
The number of sheep and goats in the country on the date was 1.919 million, 4.6 percent more than a year ago.
