China's Jiangxi spends RMB96 million in hog farm upgrading programme

Authorities in China's Jiangxi province will be spending RMB96 million to assist local commercial scale hog farmers in rebuilding or upgrading their farms.

These farms are mainly located in the districts of Gao'an, Zhangshu, Nanchang, Xinjian, Jinxian, Wannian, Yujiang and Nankang, most of which were severely damaged by January's snow storm that swept through south-central China.

Under the programme, a total of 207 commercial scale farms will be upgraded or rebuilt, after which their annual hog production and sales volume would reach 1,000 to 3,000 heads.

Government assistance will be provided based on the existing production capacity of farms. Those that currently releases 500-999 hogs per year will receive RMB200,000 in subsidy for farm upgrading. A maximum of RMB800,000 will be provided to farms that releases more than 3,000 heads of hogs.
