Bangladesh may import wheat from Pakistan

Bangladesh has expressed its interest to import 200,000 tonnes of wheat from Pakistan during a trade conference meeting between two parties held last week.

The Bangladeshi team led by Abdullah al-Amin met with Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) Chairman Abdul Malik on Wednesday (March 14) in Pakistan and conveyed the desire to meet their country's wheat shortfalls from imports this season.

Both sides also want to expand bilateral trade relations and a detailed discussion was held in areas of mutual interest.

The TCP chairman briefed the Bangladeshi delegation on the quality of Pakistani wheat as well as availability of its surplus stocks during the current year for export.
