Survey says more Korean restaurants will use US beef
Despite disputes over beef between South Korea and the US, Korean restaurants are willing to serve American beef in their menus and food fares.
In a survey of 1,000 restaurants in Seoul and the Kyonggi Province, some 65.8 respondents said they would use US beef in preparing their dishes.
The survey also shows that some 70 percent of respondents have seen low sales since Korea imposed an import ban on US beef in December 2003. The US Meat Export Federation said price hikes account for the declining sales along with the "eat healthy" movement afoot in Korea where it advocates meat abstinence and vegetable preference.
