US Beef Export Forecasts Revised Up
The United States Agriculture Department has revised export forecasts for 2004 following the resumption of beef exports to Mexico. The new forecast is increased to 95,255 tons cwt to 195,045 tons cwt. Mexico was the second largest export destination for US beef in 2003, accounting for 23% of total exports, valued at approximately US$877 million.
Last week, Mexico announced that it would resume imports of boneless US beef derived from cattle less than 30 months of age at the time of slaughter.
