Wheat conditions in US states drop last week

Wheat conditions in the US states of Oklahoma and Kansas declined last week while those of Texas were picking up slightly, according to a weekly report released on March 16, Monday.

One of the ratings applied for Kansas wheat stood at 41% for those which were in good to excellent conditions, a drop from the previous week's 46%. Although weather in the state had seen a 6-8 degrees rise above average, rainfall was limited except in the southeast areas.

Warmer weather also occurred in Oklahoma, in the week ended last Sunday. However, a cold front descended in some areas during the weekend. Good to excellent conditions for the state's winter wheat fell to 40% from 42% in the previous week.

In the meantime, most areas in Texas had received rainfall with amounts of 0.10 to 10 inches. Good to excellent conditions of the state's wheat recorded at 51%, a slightly higher percentage than 50% in the previous week.
