UK wheat exports slumps in January

 

 

UK wheat exports for January totalled 210,782 tonnes, a sharp fall from the 352,822 tonnes of wheat exported the previous January, data published by the Home Grown Cereals Authority showed Wednesday (March 17).

 

Total UK wheat exports so far in the 2009-10 marketing year are 1.2 million tonnes, lagging the 2.4 million tonnes exported over the same period the previous year.

 

Spain was the largest buyer in January, taking delivery of 104,076 tonnes of wheat.

 

Spain was also the biggest importer of UK wheat during the 2008-09 July-June marketing year.
