Pakistan chicken prices show increase
The prices of chicken have increased by 1.86% during the week ended on March 11 as compared to the previous week.
The chicken prices were recorded at PKR142.56 (US$1.7) per kilogram during the week under review as against the prices of PKR139.96 (US$1.67) per kilogram recorded during previous week, according to weekly Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) figures provided by Federal Bureau of Statistics.
The weekly SPI is being computed with base 2000 2001=100 covering 17 urban centres and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined.
The prices of beef were recorded at PKR180.07 (US$2.14) per kilogram during the week under review against PKR177.07 (US$2.1) per kilogram recorded during the previous week, showing an increase of 1.69%, the figures revealed.
In twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad the prices of chicken have gone up to PKR143 (US$1.7) per kg.
