Russia increases meat production by 9.4 percent in February
                                      

 
Russia increased the production of meat and meat products by 9.4 percent in February 2009 as compared to February 2008, the Federal State Statistics Service (ROSSTAT) said on Monday (Mar 16).

 

Meat production grew 10.5 percent to 484,000 tonnes in January to February 2009 compared to the same period of 2008.

 

Sausage production fell 8.9 percent to 332,000 tonnes in the two months and 11.8 percent in February.

 

The production of canned fish and seafood declined 20.8 percent to 101 million standard cans in January to February.

 

Dairy production edged down 0.1 percent to 1.6 million tonnes in the two months, while dry milk output plunged 44.1 percent to 4,900 tonnes.
