Australian demand for farmed barramundi increases by 100 percent

Fishing license restrictions in Australia's Northern Territory has led to a 100 percent sharp increase in demand for farmed barramundi.

South Australian barramundi farmer, Kym Arhon said barramundi demand exceeds the supply in Australia, and he believed that it is due to the limited availability of wild barramundi.

The market is taking whatever is available, according to Arhon. He added that the government has been taking back fishing licenses in order to control the amount of barramundi that are caught, which results in the fish getting more extensively farmed.
