India's agriculture, poultry sector gets US$155 million in budget sops
Budget sops given to the poultry and agriculture industries in the last two years has made about a INR700-crore (US$154.71-million) contribution to the state's economy, stated the Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs AR Rather.
Rather said this was among the efforts by the incumbent state government to bring the agriculture sector back to the centre of the state economy.
"...a small step to exempt toll tax on import of chicken has given INR700 crores (US$154.71 million) to boost state's economy in last two years", Rather said.
The function was organised by the J&K State Advisory Board for development of Kissans.
Further, Rather said while toll on fertilisers was exempted in the last year's budget, the government has exempted VAT on agriculture implements like drip irrigation system, green houses and animal feed.
