Closure of beef exports could lead to strikes in Argentina
In order to curb rising prices in beef, the Argentine government decided to shut down exports but such a measure is sufficient to cause farmers to go on strike, according to the Argentine Agrarian Federation or FAA.
''In the coming days we will analyse the measure, but farmers across the country are calling us and there will be meetings,'' the president of the FAA, Eduardo Buzzi said.
Hugo Biolcati, Rural Society president, said, ''I do not know if we will return to the route or whether we will analyse strikes, but obviously we will meet promptly to discuss these new government measures.''
In relation to the price of meat, Biolcati said that with the closure of the exports, it is unlikely that the price drops. He explained that ''cuts exported are the most expensive and heavier animals, and they are not consumed by the average Argentine.
The official measure was not done by resolution or decree and rule for all courts, except those falling within the Hilton quota.
