Brazil beef exports to reach 2 million tonnes this year
Brazil's beef exports will grow by at most 2 million tonnes this year, up 2.5 percent, against a 5 percent increase in 2007, the USDA reported.
Brazil's ban in the European market will have negative effects but its beef will be shipped to growing markets, including China, the Middle East and North Africa, said the USDA.
In addition, the report said improving economic conditions in Brazil would strengthen the domestic beef market.
Brazil's live cattle exports have also increased. It is hoping to begin exporting calves from foot-and-mouth disease-free areas to Italy later this year.
