Ukraine's 2011/12 grain export to reach 22 million tonnes

 

 

Ukraine will reach the level of 22 million tonnes in the current marketing year July 2011-June 2012 grain export, but not able to ship over two million tonnes per month, declared Vladimir Klimenko, President of the Ukrainian Grain Association, on March 14.

 

According to Klimenko, Ukraine may potentially ship to export three million tonnes of grains per month. He said, to date the problems associated with the issuance of permission documents and turnover of grain rail cars, hold back supplies of grains on foreign markets.

 

Previously, the Ukrainian Grain Association assumed that the export of grains in the current MY will not exceed the level of 21 million tonnes, if the Government does not solve the issue with the deficit of grain rail cars, etc.

 

According to preliminary data, in 2011 Ukraine produced 56.7 million tonnes of grains, up 44.3% compared to 2010. The domestic consumption of grains is estimated by experts at the level of 26.7 million tonnes per year.
