International dairy trade group spends US$225K lobbying

The International Dairy Foods Association -- whose members include Dean Foods Co., Lifeway Foods Inc. and ConAgra Foods Inc. -- spent US$225,000 in the fourth quarter to lobby on business issues.

The trade group for the nation's dairy makers, marketers and suppliers, lobbied on food safety, nutrition policy, trade, transportation and other issues in the April-June period.

That is up from the US$186,491 that the group spent in the year-ago period, and US$110,000 it spent in the third quarter of 2009.

Besides Congress, the association lobbied the Food and Drug Administration, USDA, US Trade Representative and other agencies, according to the report filed January 15 with the House clerk's office.
