Australian beef export value up in January
 

 

Australia's beef and veal exports during January were valued at A$264 million, up 36 percent on January 2006 levels, data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics show. The rise in returns for the month was largely due to increased shipments to Japan, Korea and Taiwan.

 

The value of beef exports to Japan during January rose by 20 percent compared with the year ago level, to A$110million, while shipments to Korea were valued at A$82million - up 180 percent on January 2006 levels.

 

In contrast, the value of beef exports to the US during January decreased by 16 percent, to A$44 million.
