Ukraine exports 1.7 million tonnes 2005 corn to March 1

Ukraine exported 1.7 million tonnes of corn harvested in 2005 to March 1, compared with 900,000 tonnes in the corresponding period last year, market analyst APK-Inform reported Wednesday (March 15).

The report said Ukraine's agricultural exchanges to March 10 concluded a 2005 corn export deal totaling 1.87 million tonnes.

Spot export contracts totaled 1.54 million tonnes; the rest were forward contracts.

APK-Inform forecasts Ukraine's total corn export in the current marketing year--Oct. 1, 2005 to Sep 30, 2006--at 2.4 million tonnes, compared with 2.34 million tonnes in the previous marketing year.

Ukraine harvested 7.15 million tonnes of corn in 2005.
