Brazilian poultry exports rising in value

 

 

The value of Brazilian poultry exports increased 6 percent on-year to US$244.2 million in February while volume fell 8 percent on-year to 198,800 tonnes, according to the Brazilian Poultry Exporters Association (Abef).

 

The combined value of poultry exports in January and February had increased 22.4 percent over the same period last year while volume shipped increased only 2 percent.

 

In February, the main market for Brazil's poultry was Asia, which bought 56,500 tonnes at US$ 72 million. Next are the countries in the Middle East, which accounted for revenues of US$ 59.9 million.

 

Brazil exported US$ 47.7 million of poultry to the EU, US$ 19.3 million to South America, US$ 12.8 million to African countries and US$ 18.8 million to Russia.
