US to suspend milk production due to budget cuts

Due to government budget cuts, US milk production is to be put on hold, triggering complaints from the dairy sector, while concerned analysts, commodity traders and milk processors fear a breakdown in the means of assessing the market.

The six-month suspension will halt several statistical surveys as well as the monthly USDA reports for the rest of the financial year. The February Milk Production report due out on March 19 will appear as scheduled, but those for April to September will not be compiled.
