China trade deficit for livestock products shows substantial increase
China's trade deficit of livestock products was US$410 million in January, up 233.6% from a year earlier, according to the Ministry of Agriculture's statement.
Livestock exports rose 3.7% on-year to US$310 million in the month, while imports were up 69.8% at US$720 million, the statement said. The ministry did not provide breakdowns in its statement.
In 2009, China's trade deficit of livestock products fell 19.2% to US$2.69 billion.
