Brazil's corn mid-crop exports to break record

Brazil's corn exports might exceed the initial estimate of 6.5 million tonnes and reach a record high 8 million tonnes this year as the forecast was raised following an increase in the corn mid-crop and the farmers' expectations of producing 13 million tonnes this year.

If the figures are confirmed, corn exports should yield revenues of US$ 1.3 billion.

The 2.4 million tonnes of corn that have already been sold represent 60 percent of last crop's entire corn exports (3.85 million tonnes).

According to AgraFNP agribusiness consultancy firm, these year's two corn crops should produce a total of 48 million tonnes for a domestic consumption of 39 million tonnes, and the surplus 9 million will be exported.
