Indonesia domestic poultry demand falls due to bird flu fears

Indonesia's restaurants are facing a decreasing demand of poultry products on a nationwide scale due to bird flu fears, according to Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association on Thursday.

The bird flu is hitting Indonesia hard, especially when 32 millions of families raise poultry in backyard farms.

The association has taught hotels and restaurants on bird flu prevention measures, according to Wiryanti Sukamdani, chairwoman of the association. She added that the hotels and restaurants have imposed a tight surveillance in order to avoid bird flu infection.
