Malaysia's Pahang has good potential for producing freshwater fish

Malaysia's Federal Agriculture Marketing Authority (FAMA) chairman Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri has expressed confidence that Pahang state holds good potential for producing freshwater fish as it has the "right natural features".

He added that FAMA would provide all necessary support to help entrepreneurs there develop their freshwater fish businesses.

According to Abdul Rahim, Pahang's freshwater fish industry registered annual sales of between RM3 million and RM5 million, with some exports bound for Batam, Indonesia.

Besides the lucrative potential, less capital was needed to start a freshwater fish business than for seawater fish, he commented.
