Poland's Duda meat sales reach US$351.25 million in 2006
Polish meat processor Polski Koncern Miesny DUDA S.A. saw profits rise by 86 percent to more than PLN 50 million in 2006 (Zloty) as net sales reach PLN 1.041 billion (US$351.25 million) compared to PLN 870 million (US$293.56 million) in 2005.
The company said the excellent financial results of the group are due to both the organic expansion of particular companies of the group PKM DUDA, as well as its acquisitions.
The increase in export sales contributed most to the company's growth in profitability. In the fourth quarter it accounted for more than PLN 59 million, and over the year more than PLN 199 million, 19.13 percent of the group's revenues.
PKM DUDA president Maciej Duda said several significant export agreements have been signed with contractors from Belarus, Lithuania and the US in the fourth quarter of 2006 to sell the company's pork in South Korea and Japan.
This agreement, Duda noted, have been noteworthy, in the increase of value in export sales.
