China sees 39% drop in soy import during Feb 2013
China's soy imports has dropped to 2.9 million tonnes in February 2013, a decline of 39% compared to 4.78 million tonnes a month ago, and down 24.3% compared to February 2012, according to data from the country's General Administration of Customs.
Total soy imports have reached 7.68 million tonnes during January - February 2013, down 9% from 8.44 million tonnes in the same period in 2012. Despite the decline in import volume, the value of soy imports have increased to US$4.8 billion, up 9.1% compared to US$4.4 billion in the corresponding period in 2012.
