ILDEX Vietnam 2012: International Expertise for the world's fastest growing agribusiness market
Scheduled on March 22-24, Vietnam's 4th biennial International Livestock, Dairy, Meat processing, and Aquaculture Trade Exhibition (ILDEX Vietnam 2012) will be held at Ho Chi Minh City's Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC).
Keynoted by the theme of, 'Bringing International Expertise to Satisfy Local Needs" the organiser is confident that the fourth edition will be as successful as previous shows in providing a forum for Southeast Asia –and the world's–fastest growing livestock sector.
"ILDEX Vietnam 2010 is definitely Vietnam's largest international livestock trade exhibition ever. The 2010 exhibitors' number has reached a record high of 220 companies from 26 nations. Such world-wide interest proves that our show's timely concept of 'Bringing International Expertise To Satisfy Local Needs', is already an established success, " said Mr. Jobe Smithtun, senior project manager for ILDEX organiser N.C.C. Exhibition Organizer Co., Ltd., (NEO).
In ILDEX Vietnam's 2010 edition, there were 6 international pavilions featuring agribusiness suppliers from France, Singapore, Korea, China, Shanghai City and The Netherlands. This year will feature more country pavilions, with additional exhibits representing suppliers from Eastern Europe and Central America.
This year, ILDEX Vietnam will present an official launch for its business matching session "Meet & Match", which has been part of ILDEX Vietnam since its first launch in 2006, serving to facilitate trade activity between buyers and sellers during the show. An additional online matching feature is also being introduced, allowing exhibitors and visitors to arrange exploratory meetings both during the show itself and in afterhours.
ILDEX 2010 attracted 15,278 visitors, 10% of whom were international trade visitors coming from 23 countries. Locally, participants from 47 provinces in Vietnam and 34 group delegations were registered.
Stakeholders from the animal husbandry (18%), feed milling (14%), pork and poultry farming (12%) sectors were the top three visitor groups, while visitors seeking or providing animal health solutions were ranked 4th and accounted for 10% of attendance, followed by aqua farmers and dairy farmers respectively.
In 2010, visitors from the aquaculture industry comprised a significant 16% of total visitors. The organisers promise that the 2012 edition will be tailored to serve the needs of commercial fish farms, particularly those of Vietnam's rapidly growing, export-oriented aquaculture sector. This fast-growing protein line is seeking imports of capital, technology and supplements to facilitate the entry of Vietnamese seafood into new overseas markets. These needs for technology and capital make it one of the country's leading agribusiness frontiers.
Vietnam's value of seafood exports totalled US$4.94 billion in 2010, up 16.3% over the same period in 2009 and rose by an additional 7% last year. The immense potential of Vietnam's livestock and aquaculture industries has attracted international enterprises to set up operations in the country.
