Brazil approves 60 Vietnam seafood exporters
The Vietnam Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has confirmed that Brazil has approved a list of 60 Vietnamese seafood producers that are allowed to export to the South American country after meeting its requirements.
The Vietnam Trade Office in Brazil says the decision has opened opportunities for Vietnamese seafood such as tra and basa catfish. Brazil is the biggest market in South America with 190 million people who are fond of seafood, according to the trade office.
The trade office also added that some Brazilian enterprises have sought for Vietnamese partners for imports of 2,000 to 3,000 tonnes of tra and basa catfish for distribution in supermarkets, distribution centres and hotels and restaurants.
So far, Brazil still has to import Vietnam-origin seafood products via businessmen from third countries.
