Malaysia opens office in Beijing to help promote fisheries and fruit products

Malaysia, in an effort to promote its agricultural products to China, has opened an office in Beijing to facilitate the agricultural trade between the two countries.

The office would mainly facilitate export of Malaysia's fruit and fisheries products to China.

Already, the office has received quite a lot of enquiries from Malaysian exporters and is planning on a major promotion in the China Agriculture Exhibition in October in Beijing, an official heading the office, Kamarularifin Ab Gani, said.

Besides promoting Malaysia as a `halal' processing hub, the office would also source for food Malaysia is short of, like beef.

The office would first focus on increasing fruit exports to bigger cities in China like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
