Brazil soy sales reach 48 percent of new crop
Brazilian soy producers sold 48 percent of an estimated new crop of 58 million tonnes by March 9, edging up from 47 percent sold last week, private analysts Celeres said on Monday (March 12).
But it lags the 52 percent sold this week a year ago and a five-year average of 51 percent sold.
In the center-west, No. 1 soy state Mato Grosso has sold 62 percent of its expected crop, up from 60 percent last week but lagging the 65 percent a year ago.
Sales in southern Brazil are still at an early stage with producers in No. 2 soy state Parana selling 32 percent of their expected crop, up 1 point from last week but behind a year ago by 1 point, Celeres said.
