India sells 5,000 tonnes soymeal to Thailand
An Indian soybean trader has sold about 5,000 tonnes of soymeal to a buyer in Thailand at US$218 per tonne, cost and freight, a senior industry official said Saturday.
"Deal for exporting of at least 5,000 tonnes has been contracted recently and the delivery is scheduled for later this month," said the official.
He said Thailand has emerged as a major buyer of Indian soymeal, with sales of more than 120,000 tons since October.
According to industry estimates, Thailand bought about 58,000 tonnes soymeal from India in November, purchases came down to 13,500 tonnes in December but increased again to 39,000 tonnes in January.
