Vietnam's Ca Mau city plans to expand its industrial shrimp farming area to 1,100 hectares this year, in a bid to raise shrimp productivity.
So far this year, local farmers have stocked shrimp on the area of over 812 hectares, completing 73% of its plan, reports the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
Local authorities are in the process of building three-phase power for industrial shrimp farming areas. Besides, they also guide farmers to stock shrimp in compliance with crop schedule, farm intensive and semi-intensive whiteleg shrimp and black tiger shrimp under extensive and innovated extensive model, develop rice-shrimp farming model.
Controlling shrimp seed quality, preventing diseases on shrimp, particularly shrimp reared under industrial farming model is also strengthened.
