China's 2012-13 corn output seen at 190 million tonnes
China expects to produce 190 million tonnes of corn in 2012-13, assuming an above-average yield and favourable weather conditions.
The forecast follows corn output estimate of 191.7 million tonnes in 2011-12, which is helped by expanded acreage and record yields.
Wheat production is projected at 118 million tonnes for 2011-12 and 2012-13, as current winter crop conditions are rated above normal.
With feed and industrial demand remaining strong, China's corn imports for 2011-12 and 2012-13 are projected at four million tonnes.
Wheat imports, on the other hand, are forecast at 1.5 million tonnes and one million tonnes due to continued demand for high-quality wheat for processed flour products.
