Thailand maintains THB98 pork are not lacking in quality
The recent pork price reduction procedure is explained, and further price cuts are announced by Mingkwan Saengsuwan, Thailand's deputy prime minister.
A reduction in swine quality inspection procedures as well as slaughterhouses and retailers' processes, have all contributed to the recent pork price reduction, according to Mingkwan. However, he maintained that the pork quality is of Grade A.
Mingkwan said that pork price could be lower as many hog producers do not have to use the services of slaughterhouses.
In addition, Mingkwan said prices of 50 consumer products such as milk powder will also be lowered, and that the government is planning to recalculate the pork price formula.
