No certificates for Canada-bound Vietnam seafood

Vietnam's seafood exporters are not required to get certificates from the National Fisheries Quality Assurance and Veterinary Directorate (Nafiqaved) for their export batches to Canada as of March 10.

Under an agreement between Nafiqaved, a subsidiary of the Vietnamese Ministry of Fisheries, and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), the Canadian agency will reduce its frequency in taking specimens to check antibiotic residue and those taken will not exceed 5 percent of seafood batches imported from Vietnam.

However, this regulation is only applied to those Vietnamese exporters which are eligible for exporting to Canada and have been licensed by Nafiqaved.
