Russia sees 41% drop in soy imports during Jan 2013

Russia's soy imports have reached 30.7 thousand tonnes in January 2013, a 41% drop compared to the December 2012 index.

Almost all soy volumes were imported from Ukraine.

During September 2012 - January 2013, Ukraine imported 256.4 thousand tonnes of soy. Taking into account the current rates of the oilseed imports, analysts of APK-Inform Agency estimated that the general forecast of the indicator in 2012/13 is at 0.8 million tonnes. Thus, in February-August of 2012/13, the import volumes of soy are expected to reach 544 thousand tonnes.
