Russian January meat imports rise 44% on-year
The meat imports of Russia in January rose 44% against last year to 50,100 tonnes, stated the Federal Customs Service on Thursday (Mar 10).
In monetary terms, meat imports rose 47.2% on the year to US$166 million in January. The majority of the imports came from the countries outside the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
Poultry imports fell 53% on the year to 10,300 tonnes worth US$13.8 million in January.
Fish imports amounted to 53,300 tonnes worth US$131.7 million in January against 70,200 tonnes worth US$111.3 million in the same period of 2010.
