Bird flu spreads to Vietnam's Quang Tri province

 

 

Another area has been stricken with the bird flu virus in Vietnam, the Quang Tri province, raising the number of localities hit to nine, Pioneer reported Monday.

 

Bird flu outbreak broke out on March 4 in Gio Linh district, killing 90 out of 600 unvaccinated ducks raised by a household.

 

Vietnam now has nine localities hit by bird flu, Quang Ninh, Hai Duong, Tuyen Quang, Ninh Binh, Phu Tho, Ha Nam and Hanoi in the northern region, Quang Tri, and southern Vinh Long province.

 

The first bird flu outbreak in the country was reported in December 2003 has killed and led to the forced culling of dozens of millions of fowls.
