Bell Aquaculture commenced operations of yellow perch farm
Indiana-based Bell Aquaculture has commenced operations of its first aquaculture farm that rears yellow perch in Albany, Indiana.
The Albany facility has a production capacity of less than 100,000 pounds of fish per year, but it is believed that annual capacity will eventually exceed 9 million pounds.
The facility will employ 70 workers and yellow perch products are expected to be available for restaurant and consumer purchase soon, according to Michael Miller, president and chief operating officer of Bell Aquaculture.
Founded in 2005, Bell Aquaculture is a producer and processor of farm-raised fish for restaurants and consumer use. The company aims to provide a consistent uninterrupted, year-round supply of yellow perch, with its guiding principals as environmental-friendly and non-toxin healthy fish.
