China will further consolidate agricultural policies and capital, while strengthening coordination between agricultural construction projects this year in a bid to promote modern agriculture, according to the Ministry of Finance.
The ministry issued a circular on financial supports to production and development of modern agriculture in 2011, saying that the country will give more financial support to building water conservancy facilities to promote comprehensive production capacity of agriculture.
Meanwhile, it noted that more capital will be extended to construction of farm produce demonstration areas as well as development of woody oil-bearing crops including oil-tea camellia, walnut and olive to raise domestic edible oilseeds production and ensure market supply.
Furthermore, China will prop up production of vegetables in major cities to ensure supply and stabilise prices, the circular said.
