GrainCorp acquires new equipment to speed up grain exports

GrainCorp has acquired new equipment for its Newcastle port to accelerate the removal of grain from trucks.

This harvest has seen many delays with trucks queuing while grains are moved into the port silos. Such delays have severely disrupted Australia's wheat grain, and forced importers to turn to alternative sources.

Currently only one truck can be unloaded at a time, but the new hopper will unload two trucks at once, according to GrainCorp terminal manager Mark Farnham.

Farnham said GrainCrop has sourced a drive-over hopper and conveyor from its upcountry sites and is in the processing of changing a few rollers, but will commission it to get it operative as soon as possible.
