Vietnam reports eight more bird flu outbreaks
                                  


Veterinary authorities in Vietnam confirmed to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) of eight new cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in the country.

 

Officials have sent Follow-up Report No. 29 to OIE on March 6 on some poultry farms in the south since the previous report dated 22 February.

 

About 4432 birds (type unspecified) were involved, of which 1692 became ill and 1209 died. The remaining 3223 birds were destroyed.

 

The presence of the H5N1 virus sub-type has been confirmed.
